Mom, 3 children found dead in Brakpan home
Police in Brakpan are investigating the death of a mother and her three children, whose bodies were found in their home in Sallies Village, east of Johannesburg, on Wednesday evening.
Police spokesperson Pearl van Staad says officers were called out to the scene of a fire but upon arrival they found the four bodies lying in a pool of blood.
"A mother with her three children was lying in a pool of blood in the living room, with gunshot wounds. The living room where they were found was partly damaged by the fire," says Van Staad.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and no arrests have been made.
"It is understood that the gun belonged to the father of the children, who was also at the scene with the police,” Van Staad says.
