On Thursday and Friday night, police nabbed over 120 suspects who are wanted for serious and violent crimes such as murder, armed robbery, rape, assault, fraud and housebreaking.

The arrests were made during operations in Alexandra, Yeoville, Soweto, and Johannesburg Central.
"The operations were led by the MEC for Community Safety in Gauteng, Faith Mazibuko, together with the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela, and comprised of various law enforcement agencies", says Gauteng provincial police spokesperson, Mavela Masondo.
"The suspects will appear at various magistrate's courts from Monday".

Illegal liquor outlets in Yeoville and Alexandra were closed down and large volumes of liquor were also confiscated during the operations.
"The police continue with the mission of collecting illegal firearms that are in circulation in the province", says Masondo, adding that many firearms were recovered during the operations.
Police also found fraudulent personal documents that include death certificates, identity documents, passports, bank cards and salary advices during a search of a guesthouse in Yeoville.
"We believe these documents were used for committing crimes and we are looking for the suspects", says Masondo.
