More than 30 die in two Eastern Cape road accidents

More than 30 people died in two road accidents in the Eastern Cape on Saturday morning, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) said.
The RTMC had sent its crash investigators to the Eastern Cape to investigate the two crashes, spokesman Simon Zwane said in a statement.
About 25 people died on the R408 between Butterworth and Willovale when a bus driver lost control of the vehicle on a winding road, he said.
The bus overturned, killing many passengers. The number of fatalities was expected to rise as some passengers were still trapped inside the bus.
Nine other people were killed in another accident that happened on the R61 between Cradock and Graaff-Reinet.
A minibus taxi overturned on an embankment in the early hours of Saturday morning. Five people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, Zwane said.
