Police Minister Bheki Cele has released more details on the gruesome tavern shooting that occurred near the Nomzamo Informal Settlement in Soweto in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Cele visited the community of Nomzamo on Monday morning, more than a day after the bloodbath was committed.
He says that 135 empty AK47 cartridges have been picked up on scene while more belonging to smaller pistols were also retrieved.
Police also believe that it was a group of five men travelling in a single vehicle that are behind the gruesome murder.
Cele says that the majority of the deceased are from KwaZulu-Natal.

Police have not yet established the motive of the crime, but Cele has assured residents that those who are being the brutal crimes will be brought to book.
“We just believe that it’s criminality that coincidentally happens at the same time.”
The Nomzamo Informal settlement is not the only incident in the country that claimed so many lives.
Fifteen people were shot and killed at Mdlalose’s place while nine others were wounded when gunmen opened fire.
In Katlehong, east of Johannesburg, two people were shot and killed while also drinking at a tavern.
Meanwhile another shooting in KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg claimed the lives of four people while eight others were wounded.
