More speculation about coalition talks

There is still more speculation than facts going about regarding coalition discussions following last week's local government elections.

Gauteng premier, David Makhura is expected to brief the media today on the post-election governance processes in the province.


The ANC's National Executive Committee will also start a four day legotla today amid concerns by the committee over the fact that it failed to secure a majority in Ekurhuleni, Tshwane and Johannesburg.


The ruling party says coalition talks need to be handled with a certain level of sensitivity and the outcome of the discussions will be made public as soon as they have concluded.

Radical socio-economic transformation is a principle that the ANC will not negotiate on and it says that any of its coalition partners will have to agree to.


Meanwhile the party also admitted that the election results is a clear indication that it needs to do some introspection and re-examine some of the issues that voters raised with the party.
