Another truck torching on the N3, part of highway near Vosloorus closed off

Part of the busy highway between Durban and Johannesburg had to be closed.

The N3 freeway in Vosloorus was heavily affected by traffic delays in both directions on Monday morning following the torching of 2 trucks on Sunday night.

In June, concerns were raised over the safety of drivers on the busy N3 between Johannesburg and Durban following a spate of attacks on trucks, notably trucks driven by foreign-nationals. 


In April, protesters set a number of trucks alight near the Mooi River Toll Plaza in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department has launched an investigation into the latest truck torching, and the Department's Kobedi Mokheseng has urged motorists to avoid the area between Petroport and Berry Mare. 


This as mop-up operation were underway on the highway.
