Mother in court for selling her child for R5000

A 25-year-old mother who allegedly sold her child for R5000 is expected to apply for bail in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court along with two other women on Monday.
Hawks spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said the mother allegedly sold her biological one-year-old daughter to a woman at a price of R5000. She and an 18-year-old woman who was allegedly involved in the transaction, and the buyer had made their first court appearance last week.
“The child was found in Springs, Gauteng. The buyer of the child, a 45-year-old woman, also faced charges of human trafficking,” Mulaudzi said.
The three were arrested by the Hawks last week.
