Mother, daughter stabbed to death in Rustenburg
North West police are searching for a man who stabbed his girlfriend and mother to death in Lefaragatlhe, near Rustenburg.
The two women were attacked on Sunday.
According to the police, the suspect went to the 37-year-old woman's house before stabbing her with a knife.
He then proceeded to the room of the 73-year-old woman, where he stabbed her several times before fleeing the scene on foot.
"The old woman was certified dead at the scene while her daughter who leaves behind a five-month-old baby, succumbed to her injuries at Job Shimankane Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg," said police spokesperson Sabatho Mokgwabone.
"The police traced the suspect to his rented place, but he was not found. The motive of the incident is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway."
