Mother who ‘chained daughter to chair’ granted bail

A 30-year-old woman arrested for chaining her disabled 12-year-old daughter to a chair was granted bail of R500 on Thursday.
The woman appeared in the Bela-Bela Magistrates Court where she faced a charge of child negect.
The mother was arrested on Tuesday after police were alerted by community members.
Police spokesperson Moatshe Ngoepe says that the woman is still in police custody as the bail is yet to be paid.
The case was postponed to August 19 for further investigations.
