The ANC brought the motion in June after the Democratic Alliance (DA) suspended Zille over her controversial colonialism tweets.

DA Chief Whip in the legislature, Mark Wiley, believes Zille is not going anywhere.

"We certainly won't be siding with the ANC on this and I have full confidence in all our members," Wiley says.

ANC MPL Cameron Dugmore says they're feeling positive about the motion.

"We will make very strong and coherent arguments. We hope that we will be getting the support of both the EFF as well as the ACDP, because we know that the majority of DA MPLs don't want Zille to continue," Dugmore says.

The ANC has also confirmed its acting Western Cape leader, Khaya Magaxa, who brought the motion, won't be present at the sitting, because he's been summoned to an NEC meeting.
