Motlanthe: Government should address fees issues, not students
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Former president Kgalema Motlanthe says the issue of free education should not be a burden that falls squarely on the shoulders of students.

He's made the comments at public hearings in Durban today - into the laws of the country and how they affect South Africans.
"Issues of funding of institutions of higher learning and management of that, should really be addressed by the university councils together with government. It is really not a burden we should place on students. Their main responsibility is to learn and acquire skills and education," he said.
Meanwhile there is still no clarity on what the rest of the academic year would entail with government yesterday calling on students to return to class.
