Motorcyclist arrested after failing to stop for metropolice

A 32-year-old motocyclist was arrested after failing to stop for law enforcement officers, when caught doing 169km/h in a 120km/h zone.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the incident occurred on the N1 north near the 14th Avenue offramp at around 11:30am on Sunday.

 

“The man lost control of his motorcycle and bumped into two patrol cars which were chasing him,” Minnaar said.

 

A female passenger on the rear end of his bike was injured and was taken to Wilger Hospital by EMS emergency services.

 

The suspect has been detained at the Weltevren Park Police Station on a charge of reckless and negligent driving and was due to appear in court soon. -ANA
