Motorist arrested after running over a cheetah in Kruger National Park

The motorist was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and a case has been opened.
A motorist has been arrested after he allegedly ran over a cheetah in the Kruger National Park (KNP) on Friday night.
SANParks's Ike Phaatla says the incident occurred near the Punda Maria camp.
"Details are still sketchy at this stage but it seems rangers noticed the damage on the car and shortly came across the carcass of the animal," says Phaatla.

The motorist was handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) and a case has been opened.
Road users have been urged to be extra cautious and observe the speed limit inside the park.

South African National Parks today. 25 September 2021 continued to urge visitors to be extra vigilant and to observe the speed limit in the parks after a motorist was arrested in the Kruger National Park last night for having run over a cheetah.
