Motorists urged to avoid protest-hit Orlando East

Traffic was brought to halt in some parts of Orlando East, Soweto on
Monday morning when residents took to the streets to complain of electricity
issues in the area.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar says traffic was affected from the Masupa circle.
“There are protests in Orlando east area this morning, traffic is affected when passing the Masupa circle there’d also obstruction at Chris Hani and Nicolo streets.
“Protestors have placed rocks and burning tires in the intersections. And they are protesting for what they say is an electricity problem,” says Minnaar.
However, motorist were advised to use alternative routes due to the back-up in traffic.
