Motorists warned to avoid N3 near Heidelberg following fatal crash
Two people died in Heidelberg after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned on the N3 on Thursday.
Both victims died on the scene, while a third person was rushed to hospital.
Gauteng Traffic Police spokesperson Obed Sibasa says investigations into the cause of the crash are underway.
“It is alleged that the driver lost control of the vehicle and overturned, resulting in two people killed instantly and one airlifted to hospital.
“The cause of the crash in unknown however authorities are busy with the reconstruction of the scene. The left lane and yellow line will remain closed for now until the bodies are removed,” Sibasa adds.
Motorists are advised to avoid the N3 near the Benoni bridge.
“We urge drivers to please find alternative routes.”
