Moyane assault case postponed
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The assault case against former South African Revenue Service (Sars) commissioner Tom Moyane has been postponed to December in the Roodepoort Magistrates Court.
Moyane briefly appeared in court on Tuesday in connection with the alleged assault of the mother of his grandson.
It's alleged that Moyane assaulted Lerato Maila at his Roodepoort home in May 2018.
Lobby group AfriForum decided to private prosecute Moyane after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) declined to do so, saying it saw no chances of success.
"The case was postponed solely for the reasons of disclosure. We need to disclose the content of our docket to the defense. This will be after payment is made," AfriForum prosecutor Elijah Mamabolo said outside court.
