Mpho Makwana to chair new Eskom board
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Mpho Makwana has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Eskom board.
Makwana, who has been the chair of the Nedbank Group, has previously served as Eskom CEO for nine months.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan announced the power utility's reconstituted board on Friday.
CEO Andre De Ruyter and CFO Calib Cassim will remain as executive board members, while former Cosatu general secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali has also been included.
Gordhan says the new board will start its work from Saturday.
"These boards are the accounting authority of the sate-owned-entities and they account directly to the shareholder or the shareholder minister in this case."
