Durban businesswoman Shauwn Mpisane's fraud trial will continue in the Durban Regional Court on Monday.
Mpisane is accused of inflating invoices by more than R5 million in a bid to cut her tax bill, and of violating the Close Corporations Act by remaining the sole member of Zikhulise
Cleaning, Maintenance and Transport CC when she had a previous fraud conviction.
On Friday SA Revenue Service auditor Waheeda Osman told the court she was instructed to reduce Mpisane's tax bill in January 2011. Osman said her audit uncovered that Zikhulise had underpaid Sars by R4.76m in 2010. She said Sars reached the figure by examining invoices the department of public works and the eThekwini municipality had received from Zikhulise. The court heard Mpisane's business declared a dividend of R10.5m in 2007 and a R47m dividend the following year.
