Mpumalanga miners intend marching to Exxaro's Arnot colliery, near Middelburg, on Wednesday afternoon, to present a memorandum of pay demands, the NUM said.
"The workers demand the equalisation of bonuses as per the Chamber of Mines' agreement of 1996, and a plethora of other issues," National Union of Mineworkers' spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said in a statement.
The march was expected to begin at 4pm at the mine's entrance and proceed to the head office. The miners also wanted Exxaro to address concerns with their wages. The mine's branch secretary, Mxolisi Hoboyi, claimed salaries earned at the end of the month did not reflect the number of hours worked.
He said although the matter was currently before a commissioner, miners wanted Exxaro to resolve the issues urgently.
