Mthethwa praises "nail-biting but exciting" performance by Boks in series-winning Test

Minister of Sports Nathi Mthethwa has congratulated the Springboks on their series-winning victory in the third and final Test against the British and Irish Lions in Cape Town on Saturday.
The Springboks won the match 19-16 thanks to a last-minute penalty by veteran Morne Steyn.
Mthethwa said it was good to see the World Champions picking up from where they left off in 2019.
"We are elated that the British and Irish Lions tour went ahead despite the many changes that had to be made to the schedule due to the pandemic," the minister's spokesperson, Masechaba Khumalo said.
"This series has brought hope and pleasure to the sports-loving citizens of South Africa as we gradually resume sporting activities.
"Watching the game was a nail-biting but exciting experience given the way the British and Irish Lions, after losing their first-half lead, showed unbelievable resilience as they kept fighting back.
"Our congratulations to both teams for providing us with such world-class games during the series, at a time when we are all in need of something to cheer about.
"We are proud of the Springboks for their victory after a very tough match."
