Multi-vehicle crash follows shoot-out on N2

Police are on scene on the N2 near Queen Nandi Drive where two people have been killed in a shootout.
This resulted in a head-on collision on the Southbound carriageway. The highway has been closed to traffic in both directions this afternoon.
There are major traffic delays in both directions - motorists are being advised to use alternative routes.
Marshall Security's Kyle van Reenen says a police vehicle had been chasing the suspects - who were headed north.
"Armed suspects exchanged fire with the members of the police service. During the shootout, the suspect tried to ram the police vehicle off the road. The suspect and police's vehicles careened off the roadway onto the centre median and collided with a civilian vehicle. Two suspects are deceased on scene," he says.
A member of the public has sustained moderate injuries after the vehicles collided with her car after crashing through the centre median. She had to be cut from the wreckage.

Rescue Care says several other people have been injured.
It's understood other suspects fled the scene into nearby bushes on foot - with authorities in pursuit.
The southbound carriageway has been closed to traffic, with the backlog extending back towards Umhlanga.
The northbound carriageway has also been affected - as the area remains an active crime scene.
Brad Gardiner had been driving on the highway when the incident occurred.
