Murder accused Rameez Patel's father shot dead
Murder accused Rameez Patel's father, Feroz, has been shot dead in a robbery in Polokwane.
Limpopo police say the deceased was shot on Friday morning after allegedly being followed.
Rameez is accused of murdering his wife Fatima in their home in Nirvana in April last year.
"According to preliminary information the deceased was driving in his vehicle when he was followed by four suspects. Shots were fired at his vehicle," police spokesperson Colonel Ronel Otto said.
Feroz was shot dead before a bag was stolen out of his vehicle.
"It is still unclear what was in the bag," Otto says.
A case of murder has been opened for investigation.
No arrests have yet been made.
Rameez is accused of strangling, beating and shooting his wife Fatima.
The matter is being heard in the Limpopo High Court and has been postponed to October.
