The case against a grade 8 pupil accused of killing fellow pupil in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, has been postponed to 8 September for further investigation.
Sixteen-year-old Qayiya Mgaye was stabbed to death on Monday during lunch break at Pholosho Secondary School.
It is understood that the pupil had a fight with the deceased Qayiya Mgaye and subsequently stabbed Mgaye in the upper body.
The 15-year-old suspect appeared before the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder.
The pupil has been remanded at a juvenile detention centre until the matter is heard in the Child Justice Court.
On Tuesday Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited the school and the family of the deceased pupil.
Lesufi said the school was affected by drugs, gangsterism and poor management.
