N1 closed after truck overturns in Limpopo
The N1 highway near Mookgophong in Limpopo is completely closed due to an overturned truck.
Limpopo traffic spokesperson Joshua Kwapa says it is believed that one of the truck's tyres burst.
"The truck then veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a light vehicle. In the process, a passenger of the light vehicle died on impact," Kwapa says.
Kwapa says the driver of the light vehicle, as well as another passenger and a baby, sustained critical injuries and were transported to hospital.
"The truck was apparently transporting mielie-meal which has been strewn all over the road," Kwapa says.
Kwapa says they are busy clearing the road.
"We think the road will be closed until early this afternoon by 3.00pm. We are calling on motorists to make use of the R101."
