N4 in Mpumalanga reopened following protest
Updated | By Nokukhanya Mntambo
The N4 near Sudwala in Mpumalanga has been reopened after protestors blocked the road with a truck on Thursday morning.
The protestors, reportedly workers from a nearby farm, also removed logs from the back of the truck and set them alight on the road.
It's unclear why the disgruntled farm workers were protesting.
"We believe this must be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” says provincial community safety department’s Moeti Mmusi.
"Nobody has the right to close the roads, particularly such a busy road, because it affects not only the ability of motorists to travel as they want to but it also affects the economy of the country."
No arrests have been made.
"The police are monitoring the situation,” says Mmusi.
