National Health officials sent to Gauteng to help verify Covid-19 stats

The National Department of Health is sending officials to the Gauteng province to help reconcile Covid-19 data in the province.

For two days, the Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has excluded the latest Covid-19 recovery rate in Gauteng from the daily report due to failure by officials in the province to reconcile its data.

 

"Officials from the Gauteng province have indicated that they are giving urgent attention to the issue of data reconciliation.

 

"In addition, we have deployed a team to assist them to resolve the issue expediently," says Mkhize in his latest report on the impact of the virus

As of Wednesday evening, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases stands on 778 571.

 

The death toll has risen to 21 289.

 

"Regrettably, 88 more Covid-19 related deaths have been reported.

 

"Eastern Cape, 33, Free State, 25, Gauteng five, Kwa Zulu-Natal two and Western Cape 18".
