Nehawu members still considering Social Development's offer
Updated | By MornéJK
The National Education Health & Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) says their strike continues, while members consider the latest wage offer by the Deparment of Social Development.

According to Nehawu spokesperson, Khaya Zaba, they are still waiting for feedback from members in rural areas, after meeting with the department earlier this week.
Amongst others, the union is demanding a wage increase of at least 6,5%, as well as danger pay for social workers.
"Our members can't care for people and give them hope while they are demoralised by their pay," he says.
Social workers went on strike last month demanding higher salaries and better working conditions.

Xaba says some members have already indicated that they are not happy with the latest offer by the department.
Xaba did not want to elaborate on the details of the latest offer, saying they will communicate the details as soon as all members have given them a mandate to do so.
"It all depends on the response we get from our members and I can't divulge the details of the offer just yet," Xaba says.
He confirmed Nehawu representatives are expected to give feedback to the department this afternoon.
