South Africa's Miss Universe, Demi-Leigh Nel-Pieters, had words of encouragement for South Africans following her arrival from New York on Wednesday.
She was met by scores of supporters at O.R. Tambo International Airport.
It is the first time Nel-Pieters has returned home since winning the prestigious Miss Universe crown in November.

Nel-Pieters addressed the media at The Maslow Hotel in Sandton.
"This is so overwhelming, seeing everyone out here. Thank you so much for your support. South Africa, I told you this is not a personal victory, it's a victory for the whole country. I hope that this win will inspire every single young girl, every single young boy that has a dream to realise that nothing is unreachable."
Nel-Pieters is the second South African to wear this prestigious crown. Margaret Gardiner won the title in 1978.
