Nersa cancels Eskom public hearings in 3 provinces
Updated | By ANA
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has cancelled public hearings on Eskom's Regulatory Clearing Account (RCA) application in three provinces due to a lack of interest.

In a media statement on Wednesday, Nersa said hearings in Free State, Mpumalanga and Limpopo had been cancelled due to there having been "no interested parties registering to present at the hearings".
The hearings are for the first year of the Third Multi-Year Price Determination (MYPD3).
The MYPD required Eskom to submit its RCA application to NERSA based on audited financial statements, after the financial year end.
The application amounted to R22.8bn.
If Eskom's application was granted, it was expected to result in a tariff hike of about 16%.
The public hearings in KwaZuluNatal, North West, Northern Cape and Gauteng are to continue as planned.
