Embattled Transnet has appointed Tau Morwe as new acting
Group Chief Executive.

The contract is for six months, starting from November this year to April 2019.
The parastatal says the appointment of Morwe was approved by Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan.
Transnet spokesperson, Molatwane Likhethe, could not confirm if Morwe's contract would be extended beyond six months.
"The board of directors at Transnet would be better placed than me to decide what decisions will be taken at the time."

Transnet Chairperson, Popo Molefe, says in a statement that Morwe's appointment is crucial to ensure Transnet strengthens.
"And consolidates its governance procedures, adding much-needed impetus in ensuring that our state-run institutions are well-governed and serve the people of South Africa."
