The number of Covid-19 cases in South Africa now stands at 3 555 633.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) said on Saturday evening that 4 592 new coronavirus cases had been recorded since its previous report.
The majority of new cases are from Western Cape (26%), followed by Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal with 21% each.
The death toll has climbed to 93 278, with 161 new deaths reported, of which 64 occurred in the past 24-48 hours.
The Department of Health says this backlog in Covid-19 deaths reported is due to its ongoing audit exercise.
The country's recovery rate now stands at 94.5% with 102 476 active cases nationwide.
Over 22 000 vaccine doses were administered over the past 24 hours.
