Dlamini-Zuma briefed the media on the easing of the lockdown in Pretoria on Saturday.

Strict regulations will remain in place when more than one and a half million South Africans head back to work from May.

Dlamini-Zuma said people would be expected to remain at home between 8pm and 5am.

"When we move down to level four and we don't stick to the restrictions and the virus starts to spike and more people get infected at a rapid rate, we will have no option but to move very swiftly to level 5 which we are currently in. If we do everything we are expected to do as a collective, we will move to level three and down.”

South Africans will be expected to wear cloth masks when traveling to and from work, while the regulations on public and private transport will still be in force.

Companies will be forced to close their doors if they fail to comply with the necessary health and safety regulations, which includes screening, physical distancing and proper ventilation.

Traveling between the different provinces will not be allowed, although you will be able to commute to work provided you produce the necessary documentation.

Large gatherings will still be prohibited, with the exception of funerals, which is still limited to a maximum of 50 people.
