New mayor thanks residents of Ekurhuleni

The newly elected Ekurhuleni mayor, Mzandile Masina has thanked residents of the metro for not "selling their souls to the highest bidder".
This after Masina was elected as mayor of the municipality during the inaugural council meeting on Tuesday.
He was addressing ANC supporters who were gathered outside the Germiston civic centre last night and thanked them for continuing to support the ruling party.
The crowd had been waiting since the morning to hear the outcome of the first city council meeting since the recent elections.
The ANC took all three top positions in the city - against the DA's nominees for Speaker, Chief Whip and Mayor - by about ten votes each.
Masina said that the ANC election losses sin some areas is evidence of democracy in actions.

"I must thank you, the people of Ekurhuleni for not selling your souls to the highest bidder," Masina said.
He also thanked opposition parties, who went into a coalition with the ANC, for having faith in the ANC.
However, those who didn't support the ruling party received a tongue lashing.
"Never that we think our revolution would be sold to imperialist over a dinner plate at the comfort of their home in London," Masina said.
