New avenue for Tshwane residents struggling with municipal bills
Updated | By Bulletin
The City of Tshwane has urged residents who cannot afford to pay their municipality bill in full to apply to the Affordability Assessment Committee.

The committee considers residents who do not qualify for the indigent programme.
Mayoral committee member for Finance, Jacqui Uys, says customers can apply if they earn more than R3,800 per month and have made a payment arrangement on their municipal account.
“This is a financial assessment where you provide the city with your financial information. A committee then sits and looks at what they deem you can afford.
Thereafter, they make a recommendation to council for a portion of your debt to be written off.”
