Newcastle doctor's TikTok videos 'has no bearing on professional life' - HPCSA
The Health Professions Council of South Africa says it does not regulate the attire and lifestyle of health practitioners.
It issued a response after a Newcastle-based doctor drew criticism on social media for his clothing style, video content and photos.
Sandile Qwabe's been sharing videos on TikTok joking with colleagues at work.
The bubbly doctor brings followers into his world, by showing them what he gets up to in his spare time.
But some people online said they would report the KZN doctor and labelled him unprofessional.
They also accused him of bringing the profession into disrepute.
The council has sent Newswatch a statement to say that it has not received any official complaints.
Head of Corporate Affairs Christopher Tsatsawane says Qwabe's videos have no bearing on his professional life.
He says if there are allegations questioning his integrity, it will then be examined by the board.
Tsatsawane says they only regulate a doctor's code of conduct at work, with the sole purpose of guiding professionals to protect the public.
