Ngobeni quits DA, joins Mashaba’s new movement

The leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg Funzela Ngobeni has resigned from the party to join Herman Mashaba’s movement, The People's Dialogue.

Ngobeni is joined by Paul Boughey, who has also tendered his resignation from the DA to join Mashaba’s new political movement.
In his resignation letter, Ngobeni said while was proud to have served in the DA it was important for him to start working with the former Johannesburg mayor.
“I have no intention of dwelling on too much negativity as I know many of you are already battling to come to terms with the trajectory the party has taken lately.”
He said Mashaba started a new political alternative in South Africa which will put the people at the centre of its effort.
"I believe that the initiative that he started need to be supported, hence I took the decision now to join him,” says Ngobeni.
Ngobeni served as the MMC for Finance and Leader of Executive Business during Mashaba’s time as mayor of Johannesburg.
