Updated | By Sibahle Motha
The National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the measles outbreak in Tshwane is over.
This comes after 42 days passed without the detection of a measles case linked to the outbreak.
“The number of measles cases detected and epidemiologically linked to the measles outbreak in the Tshwane District remains at four," the NICD said in a statement.

"The last laboratory-confirmed measles case was reported on 25 June 2022. Additional laboratory-confirmed measles cases detected in the Tshwane district had no epidemiological link to the home-based school facility measles outbreak.
“Clinicians should continue to notify all suspected measles cases on the NMC surveillance system.”
Clinicians and caregivers have been urged to continue checking young children’s vaccination status to ensure that they are up to date.
