Nine vehicles in Killarney crash
Updated | By Neo Leeuw
Five cars and four buses collided in an accident in the rain on the M1 in Killarney, Johannesburg, on Sunday, said paramedics.
ER24 said two cars initially crashed into each other amid heavy rainfall at a bend on the highway.
Half an hour later, seven other vehicles crashed into the accident scene.
Paramedics had just moved the passengers from the first accident off the road when the other cars crashed into the wreckage.
"Literally seconds after they had moved from the road, another car and a bus crashed into the scene, followed by another three buses and two cars a short time later. The scene was chaos with vehicle parts having been strewn across the road and other motorists serving to avoid the same fate," ER24 said in a statement.
Ten people were involved in the crash.
They were treated on the scene for minor injuries and transported to hospital.
