No cancellations after empty Blue Train derails in Germiston

Transnet Freight Rail has confirmed there will be no cancellations on trips after one of the Blue Trains derailed at the weekend.
Nineteen empty coaches of one of the Blue Trains derailed at Union Station Loop in Germiston.
The train derailed in the early hours of Monday morning.
In a statement, Transnet Freight Rail’s Sibu Majozi confirmed there were no passengers on board.
“This was a staged (unmanned) train with no passengers on board. No injuries were reported on site. TFR will investigate the cause of the derailment and apply remedial action where necessary.
“At this stage, although Blue Train services are impacted, there will be no cancellations. There is no impact on TFR’s freight operations.”
