No daytime power cuts ‘until further notice’

Eskom on Sunday announced the suspension of daytime load shedding until further notice.
The embattled power utility said this is due to sustained improvement in generation capacity.
Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 4 pm on Sunday until 5 am on Monday.
Thereafter, load shedding will be suspended from 5 am until 4 pm on Monday.
“This alternating pattern of suspending load shedding from 05:00 until 16:00 and stage 2 load shedding from 16:00 until 05:00 will be repeated daily until further notice,” said Eskom’s Daphne Mokwena.
“While the available generation capacity has been sustained, the need to replenish the emergency reserves for the upcoming week necessitates an increase in the stage of load shedding.
“Unplanned outages have further reduced to 13 350MW of generating capacity, while the capacity out of service for planned maintenance is at 8 476MW. A total of 3 300MW of generating capacity is anticipated to be returned to service by Monday.”
