No end in sight for wage strike at SARS
Updated | By Mmangaliso Khumalo
Trade union Nehawu says the industrial action at the South African Revenue Service is continuing as they await engagements from the employer.
The union downed tools two weeks ago, demanding a 12% wage increase.
SARS initially said it cannot afford to pay the workers any increases but subsequently upped its wage offer to 1.3%.
Nehawu spokesperson Lwazi Nkolozi says the strike is ongoing while it continues to engage with the employer.
"As Nehawu we are still proceeding with the strike. We are proceeding whilst talks with the employer are unfolding. We had started engagements on Friday with the employer on their offer of 1.3 % so those deliberations are unfolding.”
