‘No glitches’ in Giyani social grant payments
Updated | By Bishop Baloyi
The Department of Social Development in Limpopo says there have been no major glitches in the payments of social grants in the province.
Premier Stan Mathabatha and Social Development MEC Nkakareng Rakgoale were both in Giyani on Thursday to monitor the situation.
There were nevertheless long queues at pay points at the local Masingita Mall and Mathabatha had to remind residents to practice social distancing as when collecting their grants.
“This virus doesn’t have legs, we are the ones carrying it around. It has no transport, we are the ones transporting it around.
“So if there is no social distancing… you will get sick, and at the end of the day, you be one of our causalities. We don’t want casualties anymore, we want to minimise them as possible.”
He added shops without proper sanitisers were asked to close down until quality disinfectants were purchased.
