No load shedding on Saturday morning
Updated | By Laila Majiet
"The power system is currently stable with a low risk of load shedding. This will enable Eskom to carry out its planned maintenance. Eskom has not implemented load shedding over the past 13 successive days," the power parastatal said in a statement.
Eskom's aim was to meet the country's electricity needs and maintain its power generating units with minimal or no load shedding.
"However, should we experience additional generating unit failure the possibility of load shedding may intensify in which case Eskom will notify customers accordingly," it said.
Eskom repeated its appeal to all consumers to continue reducing their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 06:00 - 10:00 and 17:00 - 21:00.
