The recently completed matric examinations were free, fair and credible, according to quality assurance body Umalusi.

The Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education Training (Umalusi) briefed media at its head offices in Pretoria on the approval of the 2018 national examination results.
“Umalusi is pleased to report that the 2018 national examinations went smoothly without any systematic irregularities. Systematic irregularities are exam irregularities or malpractices that compromise the integrity of examinations on a large scale, for example, paper leakages that have the potential to affect an entire subject in a circuit, district, province or nationwide,” says CEO Dr Mafu Rokometsi.

The principal of Mponstheng Secondary High School allegedly gave answers to learners during the writing of Geography Paper 1.
“Subsequently candidates were afforded an opportunity to rewrite the examinations immediately after the end of the scheduled examinations,” says Rakometsi.
Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga is set to announce the 2018 matric results next week, where close to 800 00 full time and part time students will now their fate.
