No more masks in SA, last of Covid regulations lifted

South Africans are no longer required to wear face masks in public spaces, not even indoors.

Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla gazetted the latest Health Regulations on Wednesday evening, which also scrap the limitations on the number of people allowed at public gatherings.

Travelers entering South Africa will also no longer be required to produce a vaccination certificate or a negative test result.

It’s been over two years since the Covid-19 pandemic was first identified in the country and the regulations were put in place, starting with the strict Level 5 of Lockdown in March 2020.
Since then, close to 4 million people in the country have contracted the virus.
Close to 102 000 South Africans have also died coronavirus related deaths, with the number still increasing.
