The South African Police Services Criminal Record Centre in Pretoria has been closed since Tuesday.

The centre is situated at the Bothongo West Plaza in the CBD.
Services that have been affected include the administration of criminal records, issuing of police clearance certificates and the processing of fingerprints and the application for firearms.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe has disputed reports that the building has been closed due to non-payment.

"To this end, the SAPS confirms that the Service is not in any rental payment arrears as rental payments are being dealt with by the National Department of Public Works and Infrastructure.
"The SAPS thus acknowledges the inconvenience caused by the closure of the building and assures members of the public that management is engaging with the relevant authorities with a view of finding an amicable solution between affected parties.
Police have since embarked on measures to ensure business continuity by deploying members to other nearby Local Criminal Record Centres to render services.
