The North West Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit has arrested a traffic officer for corruption in Potchefstroom.

The 39-year-old was nabbed during an undercover operation on Thursday.
Tumelo Tau, who is attached to the traffic department of the JB Marks local Municipality, allegedly impounded a truck over outstanding traffic fines.
He then allegedly solicited a bribe for the truck to be released.
The accused appeared in the Potchefstroom Magistrate’s Court, where he was released on R1,000 bail.
"After receiving the information, anti-corruption members arranged an undercover operation, wherein the accused was arrested after receiving the money," said North West police spokesperson Adéle Myburgh.
"He is expected to appear again on Monday, 1 July 2024."
