Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in Bathlaros in connection with the illegal possession of human body parts, Northern Cape police said on Saturday.

The suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon after a tip-off from a community member, Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said.
“The human body parts, which include a heart and lungs, were found [in] the suspect’s freezer in Bathlaros.”
The man was employed at a funeral parlour in Kuruman. His motive for possessing the body parts had not yet been established and police investigations were continuing. The body parts had been kept safe and would be sent to the forensic laboratory in Pretoria for further investigations.
The man was expected to appear in the Mothibistad Magistrate’s Court on Monday, Ramatseba said. –
