Northern Cape Education MEC dies due to Covid-19

The Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) for Education in the Northern Cape, MacCollen Jack, passed away after battling Covid-19.
Jack was 55 years old at age 55.
Northern Cape Premier Zamani Saul confirmed that Jack died in a hospital on Wednesday evening.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of a dear comrade and a colleague. He was admitted to hospital last week and was always in good spirit and confident of a full recovery. Unfortunately, he took a bad turn and was declared deceased earlier this evening.”
Jack is not the only senior member of a provincial government who has succumbed to Covid-19.
In July, North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Gordon Kegakilwe, also passed away due to coronavirus.
He died while he was being transferred from a Vryburg Private Hospital to a health facility in Klerksdorp.
