The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has declined to prosecute Manana sayings there were no reasonable prospects of a successful prosecution.

The NPA's Phindi Mjonondwane says the two cases, opened by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the alleged victim respectively, were declined.

Earlier in the year, Manana allegedly offered Christine Wiro R100,000 to drop the assault charges against him.

Following the allegation, Manana opened a case of extortion against Wiro but the NPA declined to prosecute.

"It was him accusing the domestic worker trying to solicit some money from him," says Mjonondwane.

She adds the NPA declined the DA case against Manana because the prosecuting body felt it could be dealt with by Parliament's Ethics Committee.
